We stayed at the beautiful Amethyst Inn. It was built in 1888 and was just lovely! We stayed in the Dahlia suite which had this gorgeous canopy bed, a small kitchen and bath, and a little sitting room with a pull out couch (perfect for another trip with Jemma!). It was cozy, comfortable and romantic. The floors and rooms were all beautiful. The kitchen had been totally redone and I was in love, but unfortunately my pictures of the rest of the house weren't able to download. Read below for the deatils on that!
Jane, the owner, booked our dinner for us at the Chart House and we were not disappointed. We took a pedicab there and were escorted in by the manager who welcomed us and informed us that Jane had ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer as a Happy Anniversary gift! We were treated wonderfully and the food was delicious! I had a crab stuffed baked shrimp with risotto and the BHW had a lowcountry sampler of fried oysters, caramelized catfish and deviled crab. We finished the dinner off with a raspberry peach cobbler. Oh my word!! It was all so good!!! It was so nice to sit at a dinner and just enjoy each other's conversation for almost 2 hours. We missed Jemma, but had such a lovely time being together.
Fried green tomatoes with shrimp salsa, jack cheese and cajun buttermilk ranch... Oh my!!!
Guess who we called????
Anyhoo, I crossed the street to take pictures. The BHW did not. He said he was good where he was! Tobias said if I felt my camera get hot to move back over. I didn't have any trouble at all until today. I was trying to download our pictures from our trip and it wouldn't download half my pictures. It said the file was not recognized. I tried it several more times and still no luck. I checked all my settings, took a few more and still no pictures. When I looked at what it did download and where it stopped, I was shocked. It downloaded all the pictures up to the point where I crossed the street. The pictures from that side of the street and all the next day would not download. I deleted the pictures of the house from that side of the street but kept the ones of our B&B and some of downtown from the next day. No luck. I deleted all the pictures and then took 2 new ones. The two new ones downloaded perfectly. HOW FREAKY IS THAT??????? I don't know how I feel about ghosts and all that jazz, but that is weird... seriously weird. Cindy wants to go now more than ever! Oh my... I think I will leave the camera at home!
The cemeteries in Savannah are quite beautiful. We didn't visit the famous Bonaventure Cemetery from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, but we are going back to visit!

This is the house where my camera quit taking pictures. As you can tell, I am across the street. Not a picture one would download after that. CRAZY!!!!
BHW... I love you with all my heart. Thank you for 17 years of joy, happiness, and love. You are my best friend and my soul mate. Thank you for making all my dreams come true and I hope we have many many more years to live life and experience all it has to offer. I love you.

Congratulations on 17 years of marriage! So glad you finally took a weekend together by yourselves. I love Savannah! It's my favorite place to get away...although, I love Asheville, too! That's freaky about your photos and the house.
ReplyDeleteThat is just crazy about the camera not working! It gives me the creeps. Love those black and white pictures at night. They are cool looking! Happy Anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn, thanks so much for stopping by my blog. And thanks for the explanation and the tutorial...I'm going to be taking my brother's engagement photos in a few weeks and I hope to purchase the Florabella Collection. I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, great post! I know how it feels to not want to leave your kids, my husband and I are the same way. But it sounds like you had an amazing trip...these are the kinds of trips my husband and I used to take (before babies). We always liked to hit up a local ghost tour of the town we stayed in, this one sounds like a good one if we are ever in Savannah! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThat is freaky about the camera! What about the picture with the orb?? I'm glad you two lovebirds were able to get away on your own, the room was gorgeous, and the dinner sounded delicious, just perfect, congratulations on so many years together!
ReplyDeleteOh, I got goosebumps reading about your experience at the haunted house! I would love to go visit Savannah - and eat at Paula Deene's restaurant, The Lady & Sons. And I would definitely go on the ghost tour!!! Looks like it was a wonderful little getaway. Congratulations to you and the hubby on 17 years!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful couple.
LOVE Savannah. I'm not a
ghost-y type, either, but the
only strange encounter I
ever had was in Savannah,
two summers ago. There
truly is something about
that town!!
Hope you are feeling better.
It's hard to be down and out
when you have a little one,
plus so many things you also
want to accomplish!
xx Suzanne
*cue the "Twilight Zone" music...do, do, do, do* CREEPY! ~~shudder~~ Gives me the willies just thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a nice anniversary celebration in spite of all that ghostly happenings. The room looks fabulous & the food sounds totally what I would have ordered.
I've only been to Savannah once & I need to go back. Just not to that other side of the street!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYour house/camera story is seriously freaky. Almost makes you believe in ghosts or spirits or something.... your pictures that did manage to download are great. The cemetery shots are so cool.
I love the wall colour in your room, and how sweet for the inn owner to treat you to an appetizer at your dinner :-)
Hope you're feeling better now :-)
I totally get the"going away as a couple" thing! We have been married almost 22 years and I can count on one hand and I wouldn't have to count very high the number of times we've gone away just us. We have been doing more lunch dates lately & just the two of us going to Lowe's is a big deal.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures as usual! So strange about your pictures, creepy!!!!
Happy Anniversary to you both!! What a wonderful getaway and the Inn y'all stayed at was stunning! That dinner looks fabulous! How special that you got away, and so glad Jemma had a good time too! That is sooooo creepy/cool;) about the camera and the photos... love stories like that!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon!
xojoan
p.s. I just might take you up on that adoption thing;);)
Happy Anniversary! Those fried green tomatoes look divine!! Glad you were able to enjoy a weekend away. I am totally freaked out by your ghost story... I probably won't be able to sleep tonight :) Hope you're feeling better, and thank you for your sweet comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteOh, I missed this. Happy belated anniversary. Love the room you stayed in.
ReplyDeleteWhat history and such beautiful pictures! Love that you both got to getaway and also have such an elegant and what looks like yummy dinner away together! Also, I happen to love ghost tours and be fascinated by them in general...love it and the freaky part about those pictures not downloading after that certain point! Do do do do!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLiesl :)
Well first of all...OK this is late but Happy Anniversary you two still look like you're so much in love!
ReplyDeleteSecond...jeepers-creepers that is the strangest thing that happened with your camera, down right freakishly weird! However...hold the phone...this is odd but true...I do believe in "that sort of thing" because I've actually had several "unexplainable incidents" happen to me in my life that can't be disputed because they actually happened, I was there each time and I'm a very logical, sane person but they did happen! Yep its all true...
Anyway, now I want to go to Savannah for a visit, its now added to the bucket list!
Hugs dear friend!
Terry
